SV Bonding

In 1961, the year the company celebrated its 200th anniversary; secural bonding was introduced. Today it is known as SV bonding. SV bonding prevents unnecessary breakage, meaning you get full use from your pencils and replace materials less frequently!

SV stands for the German word "Sekuralverfahren" meaning "secural bonding" or "secure-all" bonding. SV Bonding is a process of gluing the full length of the lead to the wood casing of the pencil in production. This strengthens the lead and prevents breakage which allows for better sharpening, and produces a fine point.

SV Bonding is a Faber-Castell trademark.
