The highly pigmented water-based artists' watercolor markers are available in 30 individual colors and also in assorted gift sets. The water soluble inks are highly lightfast and provide excellent watercolor effects on watercolor paper. They are odorless and the inks will not bleed through paper. The Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Markers are of course non-toxic.
Product Details
The fiber-tip nib is made of polyester. It has a diameter of 3.25mm and the line it can create is between 1-2mm depending on the drawing angle. The brush nib is made of nylon and has a diameter of 5.2mm. Both nibs share one reservoir. The cap, barrel and nib-holders are made of polypropylene/polyethylene. The reservoir is made of polyester.
Storage
It is recommended to store the pens in a horizontal position to prolong the life and quality of the product when not in use.
The Pens Are Not Rehydratable
If the cap is accidentally left off for up to 3 hours, the marker will probably “recover” just by itself. In case the cap has been left off for a long period of time, the performance cannot be “revoked” perfectly by adding water or sticking the nibs into a glass of water. This might be possible with a marker based on dyestuff, but not so with a pigmented marker such as this.
Watercolor Paper
Good drawing results depend on the paper being used. For optimal results we recommend watercolor paper from Canson Montval (300gsm – fine grained) and Hahnemühle Fine Art Britannia (300gsm hot pressed).
We tested different types of watercolor paper (with and without cotton parts) with the Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Marker. The following watercolor paper worked very well with this new marker:
Brand | Product | Type |
---|---|---|
Hahnemühle Fine Art | Britannia cold pressed 300 gsm | 100% Cellulose paper, no cotton content |
Canson | Montval cold pressed 300 gsm | 100% Cellulose paper, no cotton content |
Clairfontaine | Etival Aquarelle cold pressed 300 gsm | 100% Cellulose paper, no cotton content |
Hahnemühle Fine Art | Cezanne rough 300 gsm | 100% Cotton paper |
Hahnemühle Fine Art | Harmony cold pressed and rough 300 gsm | 100% Cotton paper |
Arches | Watercolor paper cold pressed 300 gsm | 100% Cotton paper |
Arches | Watercolor paper grain torchon 300 gsm | 100% Cotton paper |
There are other watercolor paper pads in the market which of course will work well too. If cotton paper is surface sized then the watercolor effects will work very well. If the cotton paper is not surface sized the ink will be absorbed by the cotton very quickly and watercolor is no longer possible.
